~ n 1 usually plural a piece of equipment that is fixed inside a house or building and is sold as part of the house (the fixtures and fittings BrE (=all the pieces of equipment that are normally included as part of a house or building)) 2 be a (permanent) fixture to be always present and not likely to move or go away (The dog became a permanent fixture in our lives.) 3 BrE a sports match that has been arranged for a particular time and place (a list of this season's fixtures)
